http://storyandplot.comThis is my most ambitious teaching schedule yet. It has been so gratifying to witness the growing reputation of these classes and the continued enthusiasm from the attendees. Keep spreading the word! I have been prepping and organizng my Improving The Read class and I expect it to be a huge breakthrough for those who take it. I mean it with all sincerity that you will see immediate dividends. If you have written, are writing, or plan to write a screenplay then this class is a must. In four hours you will be a noticeably better screenwriter.
The Story and Plot:
The First Draft class is scheduled for June 2nd. The class is in cooperation with SWAMP and will be at their offices on Monday nights. It is an ambitious course and it will require more money, effort and time, but there's no doubt in my mind it will be worth it for all of us. I expect great things.
The Story and Plot: Structure class is a requirement so I have scheduled an extra workshop on June 7th to expand the number of people eligible for The First Draft. I can only take 12 people in The First Draft class so I encourage signing up for that one early.

The Improving The Read class addresses the second significant stumbling block to new screenwriters: making their _script_s convey the emotional experience of actually seeing the film. The days of writing a _script_ to be filmed are long gone. _script_s are now meant to be read. They will be read by dozens of people up the chain before the small miracle of being filmed is ever achieved. This class focuses on how to create the best experience for the reader.

6:30pm - 9:00pm
This is for the more advanced screenwriter. Previous or concurrent enrollment in Story and Plot: Structure is required. Story and Plot: Improving the Read is strongly recommended. The First Draft class is a ten week course where the students continue the work they started in the previous two classes. The primary focus of this course, however, will be the completion of a detailed outline of their own story as well as writing the entire first act of their _script_ (the first 25-30 pages). This class allows the rare opportunity for the student to have their project, from the beginning of concept to a detailed outline, guided by a professional screenwriter particularly adept at story development. The student will be advised on all facets of their project, from the marketability of the concept, the structure of the story, to character growth, and much more.

The Story and Plot introductory course. This class is unique in how it focuses on the difference between story and plot, and how each affects the most important aspect of feature-length storytelling: the structure. The class was designed in response to the consistent confusion of new screenwriters who were unable to successfully implement story structure in a way that actually improved their _script_s.
